GRABBING LIFE BY THE SLICE

"You wanna know what was really hard?" -L. "Spinning the pizza dough," like they do in pizza shops.

shared their kitchen, recipe, and patience with our students, showing them how to make pizza from scratch.馃懇馃徑鈥嶐煃

Students rolled up their sleeves and got to work measuring flour, kneading dough, and chopping馃敧 fresh toppings.馃崊馃馃珣馃 Each step guided them through important life skills:

鉁Putting classroom lessons to use

鉁Fostering collaboration & problem-solving

鉁Building self confidence & self sufficiency

Grateful to U.S. Department of Agriculture , and Penn State for making this experience possible through PA Harvest of the Month funding. Thank you to Laree and her team at Young Chefs Academy as well, for sharing your time and kitchen with us! Fun was had by all.

Spinning pizza aside, L. had a great time making and an even better time eating her pizza, which was filled with pepperoni, peppers, and mushrooms. Unraveling a saved slice that she brought back to campus, you could see the pride she had in her creation and more importantly, in herself.
